More about Nessebur (also known as Nessebar)

The old historic town of Messemvria, today’s Nessebur, is located some 20 km north of the city of Bourgas on a rocky peninsula, where the old town has remained preserved - narrow cobblestone lanes, tiny squares, two-storied houses having external staircases, with stone-built ground levels and wooden upper floors, jutting above the streets, gift shops, pubs, taverns and lovely gardens. The Old Town offers magnificent walking streets right around the steep stony coastline.

The new modern part of the town is connected to the old part by a narrow isthmus, which is an attractive spot for all tourists.

Nessebur is a very old town, existing for more than 9,000 years. It emerged as a fortified Thracian settlement; followed by a Greek polis, then a Roman colony.

The resort features 2 beaches, northern one and southern one, both in the new part of the town. Tourists also use the nice beaches of the nearby Sunny Beach resort that start just 2 km north of Nessebur.

It is unique experience to spend some days in the Old Town of Nessebur. The small hotels there are located inside the houses rebuilt to follow the attractive architecture of the once-wooden houses that used to stand on the peninsula. The offer comfortable rooms with all necessary amenities, some of them with a nice sea view towards the nearby small sea port.

If one is looking for larger rooms and more comfort – then the new part with its large-size modern hotels is the right spot.

Entertainment: There are many ways to entertain in the resort of Nessebur – you could enjoy the ancient buildings and historical monuments as well as quiet restaurants and fashionable cafes and discos. Bulgaria's biggest beach resort Sunny Beach is just 3 km north of Nessebur, offering every possible kind of amusement and night life.
